Trimming is an art...

Knowing how the hoof capsule relates to the inner foot, limb and horse at any point of the horse’s stride, the influence of the rider, the environment (today and in the future) all weighed against the current capabilities of a horse are one thing....

...knowing THE INFLUENCIAL FACTORS and being able to discern WHAT TO DO to facilitate ongoing restoration or maintenance of balance for optimum long-term well-being and resilience is another thing altogether...

...then there is gut feeling, intuition and wisdom which guides the trimmer and comes about through study, reflection, practice, mindfulness and conscientious application of knowledge... and of course through an open and curious mind...

...being in a state of "allowance" and fostering a "what if.." attitude allows us to receive information which can provide authentic solutions to the challenges faced by horse carers and their wards...

...then there is the need to communicate with team members, vets, owners and peers with a language which relates to what is "known" and can be understood by all...

...these are the challenges which we face every time we help a horse. We make it look easy, we know and we are still learning... an artist is never truly satisfied and there is ALWAYS MORE TO LEARN AND DISCOVER about one's craft...

...knowing THIS is truly embracing the ART OF TRIMMING.

We take an integrative and holistic approach to whole horse hoof and body health. We appreciate the relationship between body, limb and hoof and seek to address imbalances while positively influencing appropriate static and dynamic hoof balance and biomechanics.
